Dan Gallagher is a transformative and results-driven business executive with success developing people, processes and performance in high-growth companies across multiple industries. His leadership brand is rooted in strong relationship building, influential communications and change management that helps businesses integrate, optimize and accelerate.
For the last 17 years, Dan has worked at Comcast in two very different capacities. Most recently, Dan worked for four years as an executive at Comcast Spectacor, an American sports and entertainment company that owns the Philadelphia Flyers, the Wells Fargo Center and Spectra, a venue management and food services business. In his roles as Senior Vice President of Operations and Client Experiences at Spectra as well as Senior Vice President of Strategic Growth Initiatives at Comcast Spectacor, Dan led several business transformations, including the launch of a new brand (Spectra), the standardization of back-office operations, a new client experience strategy, talent development and initiatives with Comcast Corporate.
Earlier in his Comcast career, Dan spent 13 years leading two distinct initiatives in Comcast University, a $65 million operation with standardized curricula that served more than 65,000 employees nationally. He spent five years as Vice President of Learning and Development Operations in a start-up team newly supporting 17,000 employees with specific focus on sales, engineering, finance and HR. Dan also served on the executive team that transformed a 700-person decentralized training group into a centralized 500-person training operation. Prior to that Dan worked for eight years in the Leadership College running high-potential programs and supervisory development as Executive Director and Senior Director of Organization Development, as well as Director and Manager of Leadership Development.
Prior to Comcast, Dan worked in the consulting, banking, higher education and publishing industries. At Hay Group, a global management consulting firm, Dan served as Project Manager for Rewards Information Services Division; at Commerce Bancorp, he was Career Development Consultant for Commerce University. At Saint Joseph’s University, Dan worked in Alumni Relations. He began his career at Chilton Publishing, in market research for ECN Magazine.
Dan is author of “The Self-Aware Leader: A Proven Model for Reinventing Yourself” (ATD, 2012) and has donated all proceeds to City Year. Dan speaks on the topic of leadership often, and has been an adjunct professor at Temple University and Saint Joseph’s University, both in Philadelphia, PA.
Dan is a current member of the Board of Trustees for Saint Joseph’s University, where he previously served as the Founder/Chair of University Global Community Day and a Member of the National Alumni Board. He has served as an Advisory Board Member of the National League of Cities University; President of the Philadelphia Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM); and Board Member with both the City Year National Human Potential Advisory Board and LEADERSHIP Philadelphia.
He has been an active volunteer with several organizations, including as a Mentor with Women in Cable and Telecommunications (WICT), Co-Founder and Board Member of Generous Generations, a Mentor with the Philadelphia Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and a Saint Denis Parish Precana team member. He actively coaches various youth sports teams.
Dan has been recognized with the Sheehan Award and the Ignatius Award for leadership and alumni service at Saint Joseph’s University, a Regional Finalist for a White House Fellowship and the recipient of the 2008 Delaware Valley Human Resources Person of the Year. As a collegian, Dan was the Official Mascot, The Hawk, for Saint Joseph’s University, where he earned a Master of Science in Training and Organizational Development and a Bachelor of Science in Sociology.
Dan and his wife, Suzanne, live in suburban Philadelphia with their four sons. They enjoy traveling, consider themselves pizza connoisseurs and enjoy family time, especially around a good game of Yahtzee.
